Boston community and city leaders say new safety measures are rolling out this week, after recent alarming violence around Boston Common and Downtown Crossing.

There is growing frustration from business owners and people who live near the Boston Common, saying violent crime needs to be reined in urgently.

Ashlie Jeremie, the man charged with a murder near Boston Common Wednesday, was arrested earlier this summer on a gun charge, according to court records.
